"Focusing on Jesus is Eternal"
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus on Christmas, won’t you allow Him to be the focus of your day?
Our culture is so full of distractions; shopping, wrapping, decorations, family gatherings, and meal planning.
It reminds me of the time that Jesus arrived at the home of Mary, Martha, and Lazarus. Mary sat at the Lord’s feet listening to what He had to say. Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. Finally, in frustration she asked Jesus if He didn’t care that her sister left her to do all the work alone. She ended with the plea for Him to tell Mary to help her. Jesus answered her with the gentleness we’ve grown to know; “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” You can read about this in Luke 10:38-42.
Only one thing really matters at Christmas and that is the realization that a Savior is born.Celebrate Jesus and Him alone.
In our family gathering, we read the story of the birth of Jesus every year and have a birthday cake for Jesus. It is a tradition in our home that we exchange gifts because the Wise Men brought gifts to the newborn baby.
Focusing on Jesus is eternal. Focusing on the tradition of our culture is temporary and deceiving. I pray you have a blessed Christmas, receiving the gifts of the Holy Spirit so that others can be blessed with the real meaning of Christmas.
Love to all in the Name of Jesus,
