Lets meet our Kenyan Orphans
Name: Ignitious Otieno
Age: 8 years
Town: Umala
Country: Kenya
He became an orphan when his parents died of disease. Ignitious is the fifth born in the family of seven children. He was brought up by alcoholic parents who could not even support them fully. After their death he came to Upendo Children’s Home.
He likes playing football, he likes the color green. His ambition is to be a pilot.
Name: Billali Nevine
Age: 8 years
Town: Busire
Country: Kenya
He became an orphan when he lost both of his parents. His parents died leaving Billali and his six siblings behind. Billali is the second to last born in the family. After the death of their parents, they were left under the care their elderly grandmother who couldn’t provide for them. Its then that he was taken to Upendo Children’s Home. He loves singing & playing football. He loves the color white.
His ambition is to be a doctor.

Age: 12 years

He came to Upendo Home as an orphan when he lost both of his parents. His father died leaving them in the hands of their mother who was then inherited by another man.
He was staying with his grandmother when Upendo Children's Home took him in.
He likes playing football. His favorite color is blue. His ambition is to be a professor.
He likes LCMI because it is a ministry that cares for the vulnerable people in his country.
Name: Henry Isaiah
Age: 7 years

He became an orphan when his parents died. His father died when Henry was only a year old. Thereafter his mother followed 2 years later when Henry was only three years old. He was taken by a good neighbour who was a family friend but after a year she was forced to send Henry away by her husband.
He was then taken to Upendo Children’s home.
He likes playing football and likes the color blue.
His ambition is to be a teacher.

Age: 6 years

He came to Upendo children home when both of his parents died of a chronic disease. Isaac is the second to last born in the family of eight children. His life was hectic since his father was a notorious alcoholic. He was found by Upendo Children’s Home living with his grandmother. He loves playing football, drawing and he likes green colors. He wants to become a pilot in future
He likes the food at Upendo Childrens Home. He is outgoing and Math is his favorite subject.
Name: Ida Akinyi
Age: 10 years

She became an orphan when both of her parents died. Ida is the last born in the family of five siblings. After the death of their parents, her and her other siblings who were also girls were living with their abusive uncle when Upendo Children’s home took her in. She is a dancer & singer by talent
She likes the color red.
Her ambition is to be an engineer.
Name: Christine Diana
Age: 10 years

She became an orphan when both parents died of a disease. Diana is the first born in the family of 3 children. After the death of their parents, Diana together with her siblings started living with their maternal grandmother. Since their grandmother was old and not working, she couldn’t sustain their needs.
When she joined Upendo Children's Home her life changed. She can play freely & she gets enough food.
Singing is her hobby and she likes the color blue.
Her ambition is to be a business lady.
Name: Dorothy Akinyi
Age: 5 years

She came to Upendo Children’s Home because she lost both of her parents. Dorothy was left under the care of aunt who later also died. She had nowhere to run or go to. That is time LCMI came to her rescue. She really enjoys life in LCMI as she gets good food, good toys and a good sleeping place.
She likes the color green as it resembles grass.
She likes singing and dancing. Her ambition is to be doctor.

Age: 16 years

He became an orphan when both of his parents died of a disease. His mother got married by another man who never wanted Keith. It forced Keith to become a street boy. His aunt found him and brought him to Upendo Children’s Home.
He likes playing football & loves the color black.
His ambition is to be a driver.

Age: 5 years

She came to Upendo Children's Home as an orphan when she lost both of her parents. Her father died leaving them in the hands of their mother who was then inherited by another man. Life with the stepfather was unbearable forcing her to drop out of school and go live with her grandmother. She was staying with her grandmother when LCMI took her in. She likes playing football. Her favorite color is pink. Her ambition is to be a professor.
Name: Isabel Adhiambo
Age: 11 years

She became an orphan due to death of her parents. Her mother died of cancer which depressed her father that later died of depression. She started living with her maternal aunt. Life with her aunt was hard since she also had very many children with little income.
She was then taken by LCMI and joined Upendo Children’s home.
Dancing is her hobby. She likes the color green.
Her ambition is to be a teacher.
Name: Ramsey Omondi
Age: 6 years

He came to Upendo Children's Home when he lost his parents. His parents died when he was only 2 years old. His grandparents were too old, but they tried. Living with grandparents was not easy making Upendo Children’s home come in to help Ramsey.
He likes dancing, and the color yellow.
His ambition is to become a teacher.
Name: Stephen Okwach
Age: 9 years

He became an orphan when both of his parents died leaving Stephen and his four siblings behind. Stephen is the second to last born in the family. After the death of the parents they were left under the care their elderly grandmother who couldn’t provide for them. Its then that he was taken to Upendo children’s Home.
He appreciates LCMI for loving & caring for him.
He likes red colors as it resembles the rose flower. He plays football. His ambition is to be a captain.
Name: Vinellar Merit
Age: 8 years

Country: Kenya She came to Upendo Children’s Home when her parents died of malaria when she was only three years old. Since her older siblings were too young to take care of her, she was taken by her very old grandmother.
The old grandmother could not even take her to school. Upendo Children’s Home took her in.
She likes singing and her favorite color is brown.
Her ambition is to be a nurse.
Name: Wesley Ochieng
Age: 9 years

He became an orphan when his parents died. His father died when Wesley was only two years old. Then his mother died 1 year later when Wesley was only three years old. He was taken by his aunt who was a teacher, but after a year she was forced to send him away by her husband.
He was under the care of a guardian when Upendo Childrens Home brought him in.
He likes playing football .He also loves the color black. His ambition is to become a Lawyer.

He became an orphan when both of his parents died. He was the lastborn in the family of ten children. Terence was five years old and in pre-primary when his parents died. He was left with his grandfather as his guardian. After Upendo Children’s home came for him he was really happy.
He says he is thankful for Upendo Childrens Home for giving him a good life.
He likes dancing & playing football.
His ambition is to be a pilot.

Jeremiah is the first born in the family of two. His parents died mysteriously leaving him with no option but to live with a friend. Jeremiah was having hard time living there since he could not even go to school. Jeremiah started living a commando life. Sleeping anywhere he could find a space
He was found living alone. He loves to play football .
He loves the food at Upendo Children’s home.
His favorite subject is English.

He lost his father, leaving him in the hands of their mother who was then inherited by another man. Life with the stepfather was unbearable, forcing him to drop of out school. He went to live on the street but his grandmother, who couldn't really care for him properly, took him in.
He was staying with his grandmother when he was brought to Upendo. He is absolutely delighted living at Upendo Children’s Home.
He likes playing football, and his favorite color is blue.
His ambition is to be a professor.

Before LCMI took her, she was staying with her Grandmother. The Grndmother was unable to meet her basic needs, so Upendo Children's Home took her in.
She likes singing and dancing . Her ambition is to be doctor.
She loves LCMI as she is able to play, eat and pray with others.

She became an orphan when both of her parents died. There were four children of which she was the lastborn.
She was surviving by depending on her elder siblings who couldn’t afford much for her.
Since she has come to Upendo Children's Home, her life is good.
She likes singing and dancing, and her favorite color is pink.
Her ambition is to be a teacher.
